“With whom do you need to speak,
in order for your story to become true?”
-Orland Bishop
I work with others to navigate development, healing, and transformation, both individually and in facilitated group practices.
At the core of my work is the process of becoming present, to ourselves and each other. When someone really listens to us, without the usual layers of expectation or judgement, we can learn to hear ourselves better. Then we can discover and live out our authentic lives, our “true story.” This requires relating well to both ourselves and to each other. Carol Gilligan has noted, "There is no voice without relationship, and no relationship without voice." When our relational capacities are compromised, our well-being and self-expression are also compromised; we lose touch with our innate healing capacities and our inner compass. When we are able to experience and express proper relational attunement, we also experience self-attunement, which guides our own healing intelligence. Then, we can hear and follow the inner compass which directs our healthy self-expression in the world, and which also guides the development of healthy families and cultures.
